Health Sciences Sustainability Film Festival: Healthy Planet. Healthy People.
The Office of Sustainability in the Health Sciences is excited to host the first Health Sciences Sustainability Film Festival on April 26, 2026! This event is open to anyone in the Pitt community interested in sustainability in the health sciences.
Students may submit videos for the festival ranging from 1 to 5 minutes long in a genre of their choice.
Voting on best videos will be open to the public one month before the event. Winning videos will be played at the film festival.
The deadline for submission is March 3rd, 2026.

Theme: Sustainability in the Health Sciences
Are you passionate about storytelling and sustainability? Do you want to inspire change in healthcare through the power of film?
Submit your short video or film to the Annual Health Sciences Film Festival and showcase your vision for a more sustainable future in Health Sciences.
Content Focus
Your film should explore sustainability in the health sciences. You’re encouraged to creatively interpret this theme, for example, through one or more of the following topics:
- Healthcare sustainability
- Climate medicine
- Sustainability in health sciences education
- Reducing excess or unnecessary care
- Lowering the carbon footprint of healthcare delivery
- Minimizing waste in clinical and research settings
- Sustainable healthcare supply chains
- Educating providers on eco-friendly practices
- Psychological and behavioral approaches to environmental health
- Reusability and renewable materials in healthcare
- Greener healthcare infrastructure
- Environmental impact of healthcare research
Submission Guidelines
- Deadline: March 3, 2026
- Length: Categories include 60 seconds, 2 minutes, 5 minutes
- Format: Accepted video formats (e.g., MP4, MOV)
- Genre: Open to all styles — documentary, fiction, non-fiction, animation, or hybrid. Your film can be informative, inspiring, thought-provoking, entertaining, or a mix of these.
- No AI Creation – Films created with generative AI will not be considered.
