Nathan is a fifth year Center for Neuroscience PhD student in the School of Medicine. Prior to attending Pitt, they received their B.S. in Neuroscience and Biology from Brandeis University and also minored in Theater Arts. His current research focuses on distinct excitatory subpopulations in the auditory cortex and how their activity changes when learning an auditory categorization task. Their research has earned them several awards including the Graduate Student Research Symposium outstanding poster award and an F31 grant from the National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders.

Nathan is passionate about sustainability within and outside of research. He has been working with the Biomedical Graduate Student Association (BGSA) to disseminate sustainability initiatives to graduate students across the School of Medicine.
